The WVU Modernization Program is engaging students, faculty and staff across the campus community in a multi-year initiative to transform the user experience and position the University for future success through optimized technology systems and practices.

The WVU Board of Governors approved issuing a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking to potentially amend:

West Virginia University, a leader in energy research and innovation, is repositioning the institutes within its Research Office to best meet industry-wide transitions. The Energy Institute will transform into the WVU Institute for Sustainability and Energy Research, effective July 1, with Sam Taylor as its director.

To assist West Virginia University leadership in assessing potential cost savings for Fiscal Year 2024 and beyond, the Division of Talent and Culture is encouraging all faculty and staff who are planning to retire in the near future to consider making their intentions known.

President Gee answered a charge in March from the University’s Board of Governors to lead a strategic repositioning of the entire WVU System to be a responsive, relevant university system of the future, and to navigate the challenges of a structural budget deficit. Read the current updates.

As part of efforts to operate our campus as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible, West Virginia University has adopted an Indoor Space Temperature Policy for WVU-owned or operated facilities. The policy, which is effective immediately, provides formalized standards for interior space temperatures in all facilities where the temperature can reasonably be controlled.

The University is working with rpk Group, a consultant that works in the higher education segment creating sustainable business models. Their approach focuses on reallocating resources to advance the University’s mission and student success.
