New termination process guidelines became effective beginning Sept. 1, 2015. Subject to certain provisions of PEIA’s plan, one important change is that an employee who voluntarily terminates his/her employment will only have health insurance coverage and/or other health and welfare benefit coverages (i.e. dental, life, disability, etc.) during the month when they are last physically at work.

Software, hardware and consulting purchases valued at less than $5,000 no longer require review by Procurement, Contracting and Payment Services (PCPS) or prior approval by PCard Administration. ITS introduced an online pre-approval tool that automatically generates a notification if a review is required.

The research administration and funding tool WVU+kc (Kuali Coeus) is being automated to streamline the submission process. By automatically routing proposals to the Office of Sponsored Programs as soon as a dean or designated approver has signed off, researchers no longer need to repeatedly check for approvals or take the extra step of submitting the document.

A written travel authorization is no longer required. The change is among several updates made to the WVU/WVURC Travel Manual, designed to reduce traveler frustration.

Retiring employees can maintain their University email account and stay connected to the institution and their colleagues. The process is automated continuing the email access into retirement. Retirees may opt out of email access if they so choose.

The annual Intent-to-reappoint notices that were historically issued each April to non-classified, FE/APs, and non-tenure track faculty employees were discontinued in the spirit of eliminating waste and reducing costs.

Online enrollment for WVU voluntary benefits gives employees a streamlined portal to information and enrollment for WVU’s voluntary benefits; hospital indemnity, critical illness, Universal Life, ID theft and pet insurance.
